Obituary

Funeral services for Lawrence "Larry" McGuire, 85, of Oacoma, SD, will be Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in the Graceland Cemetery in Oacoma. Visitation will begin Friday at 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Hickey Funeral Chapel.

Lawrence William McGuire was born June 17, 1930 in Sunnymead, CA to Thomas Franklin and Crysteen (Linfesty) McGuire. He was raised in Sunnymead, CA, now known as Moreno Valley, and also in Anaheim, CA.

Larry entered the United States Army on September 1, 1950 serving until his discharge on May 11, 1952. From his marriage to Rosalie Furtado, two sons were born Barry and Gary. He sold cars in California before going to work at Boeing Airline where he worked until his retirement. On April 6, 1996, Larry was united in marriage to June (Harmon) Schooler in Anaheim, CA. In 2000, they moved to Casper, WY where they made their home until 2012 when they moved to Oacoma.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 72 serving as Post Commander and in the Honor Guard. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and mowing his lawn on his riding lawn mower. He also enjoyed watching Fox News and televised sports such as football, basketball, and golf.
Larry passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 85 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his wife June of Oacoma; two sons Barry McGuire and wife Arlene of Santa Barbara, CA, Gary McGuire and wife Patricia of Tuscon, AZ; stepchildren Dwight D. Schooler, Jr., James F. Schooler, Ruth Ann Dunivin, Susan N. Murphy, and Michael R. Schooler all of California; 5 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother David McGuire and wife Glynelle of Bull Shoals, AR.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his second wife Marjorie McGuire.
