Funeral services for Wayne Copeland, 78, of Kennebec, will be 10:00 am Monday, June 15, 2015 at United Methodist Church in Kennebec. Visitation will begin Sunday June 14th, 2015 at 4:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm at United Methodist Church, Kennebec.

Wayne Copeland, 78, of Kennebec, SD passed away Thursday June 11, 2015.

Wayne Copeland was born on July 25, 1936 in Presho SD to Percy & Veva Copeland. He first attended the Dorman township country school then graduated from Kennebec High School. Between high school & marriage he lived & worked on the ranch northeast of Kennebec. He married Alta Maxwell on June 9, 1973. They raised registered quarter horses & cattle. Wayne was a calf roper & team roper. He was an avid reader of western magazines & books.

He is preceded in death by his parents Percy & Veva and grandson Aaron Copeland.

He is survived by wife Alta Copeland of Kennebec, SD; children Dale and wife Michele Copeland of Mitchell, SD and Teri Copeland of Sioux Falls; granddaughter Macy Quinn of Mitchell; sister Ila Mae Craig of Ivins, Utah; and various nieces and nephews.
