Graveside services for Raymond Hloucha, 89, of Chamberlain will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Union Cemetery at Bijou Hills.

Raymond Leo Hloucha was born December 31, 1924 to William and Mildred (Biddle) Hloucha at Bijou Hills. He attended the Wagner Country School and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1942. He work on the family farm until entering the U.S. Army on April 10, 1945. He served in Tokyo, Japan with the Occupied Forces. On July 23, 1946, Raymond was Honorably Discharged and returned home to help on the farm due to his father's ailing health. On April 20, 1947, Raymond was united in marriage to Ruth Gray at St. Olaf's Lutheran Church in Ola, SD. They remained on the farm until 1955 when they moved to Pomona, CA and he worked in a missile plant delivering the mail. In 1957, they returned to the farm and he served on the America Township Board for many years. He also worked as a seed corn salesman before moving to Cape Coral, FL in 1972 where they made their home for the next 20 years. They spent a couple years in Fort Myers, FL. While in Florida, he worked in a boat trailer factory. In 1994, they returned to South Dakota and resided in Belle Fourche before relocating back to Chamberlain in 2011.

Raymond passed away on June 30, 2014 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 89 years due to a automobile accident. Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Ruth of Chamberlain; a brother Lars Hloucha of The Dalles, OR; a sister Alta Forell of Chamberlain; and also by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter Marla Kouwenhoven and husband Peter, a son Dana Hloucha, a brother Wallace, and two sisters Ellestene Fousek and Fern Erdman.
