Obituary

Funeral services for LaRoy "Roy" Feltman, 82, of Chamberlain will be 10:30 am Friday, May 3, 2013 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

LaRoy Lincoln "Roy" Feltman was born January 30, 1931 to Lincoln A. and Mary E. (Deal) Feltman on the farm south of Chamberlain. He attended country grade school and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1948.

On December 25, 1949, Roy was united in marriage to Virginia Hodgin. Together, they lived south of Chamberlain for the next 63 ½ years raising three sons, Thomas, Daniel, and Rodney. They farmed and ranched raising black cattle and at times, hogs and sheep. Roy loved the farm and all the animals. As a young man, he owned and rode horses. After retirement, he enjoyed the winter months in Arizona; riding ATV's on the desert, playing cards, and visiting.

He served on the Tri County Electric Board of Directors for 15 years and the State Rural Electric for four years.

Roy passed away on April 30, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 82 years. Gratefully sharing in his life are his wife of 63 ½ years Virginia of Chamberlain; three sons Tom and wife Karla of Sioux Falls, Dan and wife Cindy of Chamberlain, and Rod and wife Ann of DeSmet; six grandchildren Jeannie Rabine of Lennox, SD Carol Buckneberg and Ryan of Worthing, SD, Pam Koch and John of Holland, MI, Travis Feltman and Jennifer of Oak Creek, WI, Lacee Blankenbeckler and Travis of Worthing, SD, and Kelsey Feltman of Madison, SD; seven great grandchildren: Elizabeth Jansen, Miranda Rabine, Courtney Feltman, Nicholas Feltman, Miles Koch, Riley and Hudson Feltman; brother Duane Feltman and wife Beverly of Santa Clarita, CA; aunt Sally Deal of Onawa, IA; a sister-in-law Shirley Feltman of Chamberlain; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents Linc and Mary Feltman, two brothers Orin and wife Gin Feltman and Ronald Feltman; an infant sister LeOra; and a great grandson Dillon Jansen.
