Funeral services for Zona M. Big Eagle, 34, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Monday at 3:00 p.m.

Our beloved daughter Zona Mae Big Eagle made her journey on August  6th, 2025, in Rochester Minnesota.  She was 34 years young.  Zona Mae was born on October 5th, 1990 to Madeline (Jennesse) Big Eagle and Donald Big Eagle Sr.

Zona grew up in Fort Thompson, SD.  She attended Fort Thompson Elementary School, she also attended St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain Public School and Crow Creek Tribal School.  In 2009, Zona graduated from Chamberlain High School.

Zona was a very kindhearted and loving young lady who lit up a room with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh.  Zona loved her family and especially all 6 of her children: Crystal Lynn, Demitrius Don, Allianna, Zayleigh, Qayleigh and Cassius and helped care for Mildred right out of high school. Zona loved to spend quality time w/her children including going to the park, movie nights, shopping, loved getting her nails and hair done.  She loved to cruise around to see her friends and huge Green Bay Packers fan.  She continually checked on her parents daily, even calling and willing to lend a helping hand.  Zona made sure that not only her parents were taken care of but also relatives and friends.  Zona had a great sense of humor by joking/teasing with all and most of all, Zona Mae was Mom and Daddy's Baby Girl.

Zona worked at the Lode Star Casino, CCST Child Care and Food Distribution for CCST.

Zona Mae is survived by her parents: Donald Sr and Madeline Big Eagle.  Her 6 Children: Crystal Lynn, Demitrius Don, Allianna, Zayleigh, Qayleigh and Cassius.  Her older brothers: Donald Jr., Benjamin (Benji) Big Eagle and Anthony Touche.  Sisters: Mildred Jennesse, MaKayla Rabbit & Mary Jennesse.  Cousins: Wamdi Jennesse, Darrius Jennesse.  Aunts: Sharon Jennesse, Mona Big Eagle, Arlis Big Eagle, Durine Chase, Janette Marks, LeeAnn Piskule, Ramona Jennesse, Janice Jennesse, Marsha Grey Cloud & Delta Gonzales.  Uncles: Jason Jennesse, Stanley Jennesse, Verlin Jennesse, Dennis Harford, Keith Nelson, Donavon Charging Hawk, Ruckman Neilson & Lorenzo Jennesse.  Her favorite nanny: Dean Sargent.

Zona was preceded in death by her brother Martin Big Eagle, Maternal grandparents: Mildred (Grey Cloud) Jennesse & Lloyd "Hebo" Jennesse.  Paternal Grandparents: Mary Agnes St. John & Henry Big Eagle. Uncles: Elton "Wade" Jennesse, Randolph Big Eagle, David Big Eagle.
