Funeral services for William J. Edwards, 32, of Lower Brule, SD will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be Saturday and Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

William Jarmel Edwards was born May 11, 1989 in Colorado Springs, CO to William H. Edwards and Anita A. Driving Hawk.  Wil attended Lower Brule Elementary, graduated from the eighth grade at St. Joseph's Indian School, and graduated a Gates Millenium Scholar at Lower Brule High School in Lower Brule, SD.

Wil worked numerous places including as a cook at the Golden Buffalo Casino and KWOTP.  In his free time you would find Wil hanging with his nieces and nephews or at the gym shooting around.  He also assisted with Women's League making sure they always had a referee.  He loved playing basketball as well as other sports, most recently, playing softball with his "Bros" and "Uncles" on team Mabel's Boys.

Wil was well known in the community and was a kind, humble, respectful man who always greeted everyone with a smile.  Wil touched the hearts of many.  He will truly be missed.

Wil passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Lower Brule, SD at the age of 32 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his mother Anita; his brothers Neil Whitney and Leonard Edwards; sisters Janessa Driving Hawk, Mariah Edwards, and Angelica "Babe" Edwards; nephews Zenneth, Zaylen, Zayden, Zylias, Treyton, Landon, and Benson; nieces Neleigh, Kourtney, Mabeleine, MaRayah, Mariana, Nessiah, and Tayshia; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father William H. Edwards, paternal grandparents Harold and Pearl Edwards, maternal grandfather Leonard Driving Hawk, and great grandparents Ben and Mabel Driving Hawk.
