Warren Ray Peterson Sr., of Lower Brule, SD, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 53.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD. Burial will follow at the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery in Iron Nation, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

Warren Ray Peterson Sr. was born on July 29, 1967 in Dallas, Texas to Charles Henry Peterson Jr. and Sheral Ducheneaux. Warren and his family stayed in Dallas for a while, but the family moved around throughout his life. The family settled in Mission, SD in 1979. He went to school at the Todd County High School where he later graduated. His first job was at Buche Food in Mission, SD.

Warren enlisted into the Army in August of 1988. He was a proud grenade expert and marksmen. He received formal training as a food service specialist in the Army. He was stationed in Mannheim, Germany from 1988 to 1991. While on tour, Warren was able to see an Ozzy Osborne concert, one of his favorite musicians. Warren served his country during the Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

After his discharge from the Army in 1991, he returned to Lower Brule, SD. Warren married Renee Lynette Kenyon. He worked at the Golden Buffalo Casino in Lower Brule, SD. Later on, Warren started working at the Lower Brule High School. He started Grace Cakes in Lower Brule, SD. While working at the Lower Brule High School, Warren obtained an associate degree in business and culinary arts. Warren's last job was at the Census Bureau. While working at the Census, Warren was able to interact with many people, which was one of his passions.

Warren Ray Peterson Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 53. Gratefully sharing his life are his children Dru Peterson, Warren Peterson Jr., Kevin Peterson, and Kalvin Peterson; siblings Jolene Peterson, Charles Peterson III, Fredrick Peterson, James Peterson, Brian LaCroix, Peggy Clark, Bret LaCroix, and Brad LaCroix; grandchildren Jarrod, Lillian, Kristian, Rose, Everlee, Christine, Xander, and Zarina; mother Sheryl LaCroix; father-in-law Noble LaCroix; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Preceding Warren in death are his father Charles Henry Peterson Jr.; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
