Funeral services for Virginia E. Anderson, 95, of Reliance, SD will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Virginia Enger Thorsen was born February 17, 1926 to Clarence and Edna (Larson) Thorsen. She attended country school north of Pukwana.

On December 14, 1946, Virginia was united in marriage to Albert Amos Anderson. They made their home in the Chamberlain area for several years before moving to different locations for Amos' employment as a construction worker.

They returned to Reliance where they remained the rest of their lives. Amos passed away on May 16, 2001. Virginia moved to the Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell before moving to Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain in 2013.

Virginia liked doing puzzles and sewing. She also enjoyed being outside and watching nature.

Virginia passed away on July 7, 2021 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 95 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her son Rick and daughter-in-law Sandy Anderson of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her sister Ruth Riggen.
