Veronica Feeney stepped into her heavenly home to join her parents and her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 66, following complications during her long battle with FrontoTemporal Dementia.

Born as Veronica Maria Rekow to Vernon & Violet (Langdeau) Rekow of Fort Pierre, SD, on October 16, 1958, though she was affectionately known as Roni to many friends and family. The family moved to Lower Brule, SD, when she was twelve.

While attending Lower Brule High School, Veronica was inducted into the Who's Who Among American High School Students. She continued her academic excellence while attending the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD and eventually earned a degree in Computer Information Systems from Dakota State University in Madison, SD. She spent many years as an administrator, tech support, computer programmer, and educator in Pierre, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, and Lower Brule.

One thing Veronica was known for was her love of cooking. Anyone who spent time around her table fondly remembers at least one of their favorite dishes or sweet treats that she perfected. She also enjoyed crafting and many still treasure the afghans, jewelry, and other homemade creations she gifted.

The greatest loves of Veronica's life were her two grandchildren, Silas and Winnie. She always referred to them as "the sunshine in my heart." It gave her strength to have them nearby in the final progression of her disease.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Albert & Elsie Rekow; maternal grandparents, Joseph & Lottie Langdeau; her parents, Vernon Sr. & Violet (Langdeau) Rekow; her sister, Dolores Riley; and brother, Armond "Butch" Glasford.

She is survived by her two sons, Jerauld (Anna) Rekow of Menomonie, WI and Bradley Feeney of Shoreview, MN; two grandchildren, Silas Rekow of Grand Forks, ND and Winnie Rekow of Menomonie, WI; former spouse, James Feeney of Sioux Falls, SD; four brothers, Bernard "Smiley" (Diana) Glasford, Jr. of Canyon Lake, TX, Leon "Skip" (Clair) Glasford of Tucson, AZ, Vernon "Shorty" (Penny) Rekow, Jr. of Patterson, CA, and Keith "Squeaky" (Rikki) Rekow of Casper, WY; and six sisters, Sharon Brown of Sioux Falls, SD, Renee Dietrich of Wetumpka, AL, Cheryll (Fritz) LaRoche of Lower Brule, SD, Desine (Raymond) Norris of Pasadena, TX, Eyvonne Rekow of Lower Brule, SD, and Bettina (Dave) Bergren of Sacramento, CA; her sister/cousins Jean Bolman of Fort Hale, SD, Ella "Sis" James of Newtown, ND, and Carla Kurtz of Apple Valley, MN; her beloved aunt Sharon Koenig of Elgin, ND; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Veronica will begin her journey home to Lower Brule from Hickey Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Anyone wishing to follow, a procession will leave from the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

A prayer service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lower Brule Community Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lower Brule Community Center. Veronica will be laid to rest at the LaRoche Ranch Family Plot immediately following the funeral services. All attendees are invited to share a meal at the community center following the interment.
