Vance David Jandreau, Sr. was born February 24, 1959 to Leo Burdette Jandreau and Dorothy B. Langdeau Jandreau Jones in Chamberlain, SD.  Vance was the 6th of 8 children.

Vance attended school in Lincoln, NE, Lower Brule, SD and Marty, SD.  Vance was very intelligent and spent his younger years reading many books and absorbing knowledge.  He had an unquenchable thirst for learning something new each day.  He earned his GED in 1983.  Vance made his home in Lower Brule and married Ruby Fire Cloud on December 18, 2010. Together Vance and Ruby raised their grandchildren, Nathaniel, Samuel and Hillary.  They remained married until Ruby passed away on October 10, 2019.  In 2022, Vance moved to Flandreau, SD and remained there until his passing.

Vance enjoyed spending time with his many relatives and friends.  He loved to play dominoes, solitaire and online slots on his phone.  He enjoyed games shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.  He also loved the history channel, Syfy and Westerns.  He spent countless hours watching crime shows from Law and Order, CSI (all of them), FBI, Criminal Minds, and NCIS.  With his love of crime television and the countless hours he spent watching he could have easily earned a masters degree in criminal investigation.  He was extremely crafty.  He made all sorts of trinkets and gadgets out of wood, bones and anything he could find.  He was always excited to show off his latest and greatest creations or inventions.

Vance had a special place in his heart for animals.  He loved his dogs!  He would spend hours training them to do tricks and even taught one of his dogs to retrieve a dime!  His dogs were his favorite companions.  He talked and argued with them just as if they were human.  The number of dogs he had is too numerous to name but Baby and Wander were among his favorites.  Sissy, his "grand dog" and most recent watch dog, also held a special place in his heart.

Vance enjoyed rodeos, horse racing and socializing with friends and family at those events.  He had a love for "Sir Phillips" and enjoyed his drinks.  IYKYK 😊

During the course of his life, Vance worked various jobs.  He was a Prosecutor for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, worked at the race track in Aberdeen, SD, dealt blackjack for the Golden Buffalo Casino and worked for the Tribal Maintenance Program with his longtime friend Erwin "Uncle DoeDoe" LaRoche.  They traveled all across the country moving people, hauling vehicles and fulfilling many work orders together before Vance retired after the death of his wife.  Uncle Doe Doe followed Vance to heaven on September 1, 2024.

Vance lived a good life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his children, Jerome (Keri) Jandreau, Sophia (Tony) Julson and Vance Jr. (Kari) Jandreau, all of Flandreau, SD.  William Thigh, Dru Peterson and Sarah LaRoche, all of Lower Brule, SD.  Grandchildren, Nathaniel, Hillary, and Samuel, Michaela, Drew, Madeline, Molly and Mason, Anthony, Andrew, Alex, Abraham and Axel, Shania, Ryder and Kameron, Lazaya, Esibelle, William and Kayleigha, Jarred, Lilly, Christian and Rose, Hailey, Xavier and Selmar.  Sisters, Barbara Evans of Chamberlain, SD, Jan (Jim) Brouse, and Karen Jones of Lower Brule.  He also leaves behind aunts Gwyn Erlandson and Laurel Hopper and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby, parents Dorothy Belva Langdeau Jandreau Jones, Leo Burdette "Tete" Jandreau and David T. Jones, Maternal grandparents Joseph and Lottie Langdeau, paternal grandparents, Gertrude and Lawrence Jandreau, siblings Jerauld Jandreau, Michael B. Jandreau, Terry Jandreau and Scott Jones as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
