Troy Todd Estes, 50, began his journey to the spirit world on October 29, 2021 in his home surrounded by family.

Troy was born on November 17, 1970 to Sherwood Estes Sr. and Annalisa (Smith) Estes.

He attended school at Lower Brule, St. Joe's, New Beginnings and then graduated from Lower Brule High School. While in high school he enjoyed playing the drums in "Bego's Band" and being part of the basketball team.

Post-high school Troy attended Northern State University and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He worked for the Lower Brule Ambulance Service as an EMT alongside his uncle Jack Estes. Eventually, Troy found his passion for computer work. He was instrumental in helping build the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe's computer network until he found his place as IT Director for the Lower Brule Housing Authority.

Besides being an expert "computer fixer guy", Troy was an avid pool player. He played in pool leagues and enjoyed attending Heartland and the state pool tournaments. You could always find him running the pool table in his basement or fixing a laptop, computer or TV.

Troy aka "Toonker" was married to the love of his life, Dorri LaRoche, for 22 years. There was rarely a time they were apart, our very own Bob and Rosie. Dorri was his soul mate and stayed by his side to the very end.

Troy had a sense of humor that would have anyone laughing. We have all had a moment of giving a heartfelt story and he would come along with a goofy comment out of nowhere. He was a kind-hearted person and a protective brother. Any one of us could call upon him for help or advice and he always answered. Troy enjoyed fishing, sitting by the river, spending time with his favorite aunties and watching his favorite football team "Skol Vikings".

One of Troy's proudest accomplishments was quitting the booze. We all enjoyed reading his daily updates as he struggled and overcame drinking alcohol. He was an inspiration to all of us to see his strength and dedication. As he always said, "Life is Beautiful".

Family was so important to Troy, especially all his grandkids. One of his last wishes was to have his family by his side. We walked him as far as we could and our relatives on the other side welcomed him home. We will miss you dearly Troy. We know you didn't leave us, you only went first.

Troy is survived by his wife Dorri (LaRoche) Estes; two sons, Eric Estes, Trevor Estes; two stepdaughters, Nicole Sisneros, Christi Sisneros; his parents Sherwood Sr. and Annalisa (Smith) Estes; 3 brothers, Douglas (Gilberta) Estes, Sherwood Estes Jr., Wesley (Angie) Estes; 6 sisters, Angela (Ron) Frenier, Dawn Crew VanRossum, Jody Traversie, Kylee (Chris Little) Estes, Ursula Estes, Sherilyn (Jason Perez) Sifuentes; 16 grandkids and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Delmar and Helen (LaRoche) Smith; paternal grandparents Clyde and Ramona (Marks) Estes; uncles Mark Estes, Troy Estes, Clyde "Duke" Estes; aunties Ruby Estes, Barbara Jean Estes, Cheryl Smith; cousins Alexis Smith, Freeman Estes, Victor Grassrope Jr., Martin Grassrope, niece Heaven Estes, nephew Liam Big Eagle and his best friend Brent "Congo" aka Cap Hood.
