Funeral services for Timothy R. "Tim" Engel, 54, of Oacoma, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.
Timothy R. Engel, 54, of Oacoma, SD passed away on December 15, 2023 at his home in Oacoma, SD.
Timothy Robert Engel was born November 3, 1969 at Mitchell, SD to Donald E. and Elaine (Weidemann) Engel.
Tim attended grade school in Chamberlain, graduating from Chamberlain High School in 1988. During high school, Tim worked at Al's Oasis. After high school Tim moved to Aberdeen, while his girlfriend Cindy Stolte attended college, and he began working at Truck World in Stratford, SD. The two were later united in marriage.
In 1996, Tim met Shelley J. Smith and on May 15, 1999, they were united in marriage. They made their home in the Chamberlain before purchasing their home in Oacoma. Tim was employed at the Chamberlain Locker Plant, Chamberlain Food Center, and most recently DeHaai Processing.
Tim was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Tim was member of the Chamberlain-Oacoma Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
He enjoyed fishing and a little bit of hunting. He loved being the "weigh master" of the Tuesday night fishing league each year.
Gratefully sharing his life are his mother Elaine (Bill) Dahlman; brothers Todd (Lori) Engel and Tory (Rebecca) Engel; brother-in-law Jeff (Holley Huisman) Smith; several nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Shelley; his father Donald E. Engel; grandparents Art and Amelia Engel, and Edna Weidemann.
