Funeral services for Thaddeus O. "Thad" Pickner, 38, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday from the funeral home.

Thaddeus Obadiah Pickner Sr., "Obe", was born December 6, 1984 to Boyd Sr. and Connie Pickner in Chamberlain, SD.  He attended Crow Creek Headstart, from there he went to Chamberlain Elementary School, and then finished his education in Rapid City, SD.

Thaddeus spent his earlier years on the family farm on the Crow Creek Reservation later moving to Rapid City, SD where he started a career building houses and carpentry.  This was his passion, he loved to work with his hands and create things.  He later moved back to the family farm and started his family.  Thaddeus met his wife Amanda on March 17, 2006 and the two were married on March 22, 2018.  To this union they had two children, Sarah Lee and Thaddeus Jr. also two stepsons Levi and Ashton Nelson.  His kids were his whole world and he did everything for them.  Thaddeus was very social and loved to make people laugh.  He always knew just the right words to make people feel like they are important.

He loved his nieces and nephews wholeheartedly.  He would tell them "I love you like crazy" or "love you to the moon and back" before ending a conversation.  He loved to play basketball with the kids.  He loved boxing.  He also was a hunter of all wildgame, not the greatest shot but always talked like he was.  He also loved to fish and collect different items while fishing with the kids.

Thaddeus entered the Spirit World on September 29, 2023 at the age of 38 years at his home in Chamberlain, SD leaving behind many loved ones.  Blessed for sharing his life were his children Sarah and Thaddeus Jr., stepsons Ashton and Levi Nelson; wife Amanda Pickner; siblings Crystal Pickner, Boyd (Debbie) Pickner Jr., Angela Pickner, Elmer Pickner, Donald Pickner, Kurtis (Hollie Tabor) Pickner, Helen (David Sr.) Abernathy, Jane (Adrian Sr.) Medicine Crow, Faith (Frank) McGhee, Gregory (Lorna Harrison) Pickner Sr., Idiemae (Mike) Laabs, and Joshua (Britney Rose) Pickner Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Connie and Boyd Sr., nephew Garrett Pickner; nieces Acacia Medicine Crow and Sierra Abernathy.
