Stan struggled with MS for many years until complications of Covid ended his life on January 7, 2022.

Stanley "Stan" Ray Nelson was born March 13, 1964, in Wagner, South Dakota to Bill and Darlene (Kunzweiler) Nelson. Stan attended grade school in Chamberlain. He graduated from CHS in 1982. He worked at Midwest Supply in Chamberlain. On August 14, 1993, Stan married Christie Cronk of Chamberlain. They were blessed with two children. Stan and his family moved to Huron where he worked at Olson Implement and at Advanced Auto Parts. He and his family then moved to Box Elder, SD. He worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts until he became disabled. In June of 2016, he moved to Rapid City.

Stan enjoyed participating in Shotokan karate and earned a 3rd degree brown belt. Stan also enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing on the Missouri River and at the various lakes throughout the Black Hills. Stan had a 1972 Spitfire convertible that he enjoyed restoring and tinkering with. Stan was very social and liked to sit and visit with anyone who was available. Stan also enjoyed playing video games that were strategic in nature. Stan took great pride in the care of the family dog & cat Mochi and Castella.

Stan is survived by his daughter, Melinda of Sioux Falls, and son Tavis of Rapid City, his father, William Nelson of rural Chamberlain, sister Ivy Howe (Dale), brother Steve (Kristy), many aunts, uncles, cousins and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Stan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandparents, his mother Darlene, and stepmother Marilyn Sager Nelson
