Funeral services for Sonni J. Flute, 37, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery at Iron Nation, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Friday at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church Hall in Lower Brule, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 3:00 p.m. on Friday from the funeral home.

Sonni Jean Flute entered the spirit world on June 29, 2024, at the age of 37 years and 11 months.

Sonni, along with her chepka, Ervin George Flute Jr, were born to Lana Jean and Ervin George Sr in Chamberlain, SD on July 29, 1986.

Sonni grew up in Lower Brule and attended school in Lower Brule and at St. Josephs Indian School in Chamberlain, SD. Sonni was an outgoing person who lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with her parents, kids, twin Ervin, siblings, and many friends whom she loved dearly. She was a very talented, funny, kindhearted and a loving mother, sister, daughter and auntie. In Sonni's later years, she found friends in Fort Thompson whom she considered brothers and sisters as they welcomed her in their community. She loved being there and considered that her home.

Gratefully sharing her life are her 9 kids: Thalia, Emmanuel, Krista, Taylee, Veronica, Payton, Julius Jr, Kingston, and baby Lana. Dad, George, her Chepka Ervin, Brothers Dustin, Nelson, and Pernell. Sisters Valerie, Latonn and Kayla. Aunts; Marilyn, Emma, Vicki, Dorcas, Patsy, and Donna. Uncles, Harv, Pudgy, Little John, Emery, Sam, Jarrid, Darrell, Troy, Earl and her grandfather Erwin "DoeDoe" along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Proceeding her in death were her mother, Lana Jean, brother Ellsworth, maternal grandparents, Velda and Tony, aunts, Jackie, Rita, and Robin. Uncles, Sam, Louie, and Marvin. Cousins, Les, Michelle, Juanita, Billy Jack, and Jeremy. Nieces, Rachel and Krista. Her paternal grandparents Shirley and Johnny, Uncles, Irving, and Clinton, and cousin, Lawrence Sr.
