Funeral services for Russell R. Thigh, 49, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery at Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 12:00 p.m. (NOON)  on Saturday from the funeral home.

Russell Ronald Thigh was born November 6, 1973 in Chamberlain, SD to Carol (Goodface) Thigh and Samuel Thigh Jr.  Russell grew up in Lower Brule, attended St. Joe's Indian School in Chamberlain and during his high school years, while at McCrossan's Boys Ranch, attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD graduating in 1998.

Russell loved playing basketball and softball up until his accident which left him paralyzed.He loved spending time with his grandchildren and chillin with the nephew and nieces whom he had nicknames for them all.

Russell passed away on October 11, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 49 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his only child, a son, Gavin Thigh, mother Carol Thigh, his siblings: two brothers, Ronnie & Raymond Thigh of Lower Brule, a sister, Roberta Thigh of Lower Brule ,four special aunts, Wilma Wilson, Lucille Skunk, Sadie Flute all of Lower Brule, and April Fallis of Chamberlain, SD.

Preceding him in death were his father Samuel Thigh Jr, his materal grandparents Cephais Goodface Sr. and Alice Ann Rencountre, his pateral grandparents, Samuel Thigh Sr. and Nellie (Thomas) Thigh, brother Robert Thigh, sister Rhonda Thigh, uncles Cephais Goodface Jr,Wally Thigh, Chip Loudner, and aunt, Edith (Thigh) Tettinger.
