Funeral services for Rosalind Y. Eagle Star, 83, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery at Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday from the funeral home.

Roselind Yvonne Quilt Eagle Star was born May 9, 1940 to Felix Quilt and Sybil Long Turkey.   She attended St. Joseph's Indian School and high school at Flandreau Indian School.  She was united in marriage to Erwin LaRoche and to this union Earl, Leighton, Curtis, and Connie.  She met Leonard Driving Hawk and Anita was born.

She later married Jasper Russell Eagle Star and to this union Nancy, Dulcy, Jasper, Basil, and Margaret were born.  She also raised as her own two grandchildren, Cindy and Olivia.

In 1992, she started working at the Golden Buffalo Casino as a porter and then in 1994, she became a CHR for the second time in her life.  She resigned in 2017 completing 23 years for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe.

She enjoyed spending time with her very special niece Nonie Byington.

Roselind passed away on April 14, 2024 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 83 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her children Earl LaRoche Sr., Anita Flute, Nancy Eagle Star, Dulcy Eagle Star, Jasper Eagle Star, Basil Eagle Star, and Margaret Eagle Star, her hunka brothers Wayne Estes and R. Perry Estes, and many other friends and relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Jasper Eagle Star; sons Leighton LaRoche, Curtis Robert McGhee; daughter Connie LaRoche; and all her brothers Felix Quilt, Ralph Quilt, William "Willie Duck" Quilt, Newman Quilt, Robert "Bobby" Quilt, and Tom Estes.
