Rosalind June
Alemany
June 6, 1941 – June 12, 2023
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Rosalind June Alemany was born on June 6th, 1941 in Fort Thompson, South Dakota to Amelia Jandreau and Sam Crow Sr. She had one sister Constance Crow and two brothers, Dewy Crow and Sam Crow Jr.
She grew up on the Crow Creek Reservation in South Dakota. She was the first Native American woman to graduate from Pukwana High School as Salutatorian.
After the passing of her mother when Rosalind was 19, she moved to California. She graduated from the nursing program at East Los Angeles College. She worked at and retired from Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. She was a compassionate , caring and dedicated Registered Nurse.
She loved traveling to Mexico and driving to South Dakota in the summers with her children to visit family and attend PowWows. Rosalind also enjoyed cooking, she often had a food booth at Pow Wows making Indian Frybread, it was her specialty! She has a great sense of humor as well as being a great story teller. She was always hospitable to all, opening up her home and making people feel comfortable. This was a quality that she passed on to her children. She was fun adventurous. Brave, strong and most of all loving.
Rosalind had a love for the Bible her whole life. In 2011, she dedicated her life to Jehovah God and got baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved to speak to people about her love for Jehovah and the Bible's promises for the future such as the scripture found at Revelation 21;3-4 which says "God...will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." She had faith that she would see her dead loved ones again in the resurrection.
Rosalind passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023, at the age of 82 years, surrounded by her loved ones.
Rosalind was preceded in death by her father Sam Crow Sr.; mother Amelia Jandreau; sister Constance Crow; and two brothers, Dewy and Sam Crow Jr.
She is survived by her five children Wade Crow of Ontario, CA, Tanya (Mike) Castellanos of Ontario, CA, Roxie Kentfield of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Dawn (Arthur) Frazier of Lompoc, CA, Natalia (Andre) Castaneda of Chamberlain, SD; her grandchildren Andrea, Christianne, Ariana, Mathew, Joseph, Alexis, Tiffany, Isaiah, Brianne, Ancelin, Jesemini, Noah, Adriel, Isaac and Jahzai. She also had nine great grandchildren.
