Funeral services for Ronald D. Wright, 74, of Lower Brule, SD will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lower Brule, SD.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral services at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Burial will be at 11:30 am (MT) Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD.

Ronald Dean Wright was born on May 4, 1946 in Dayton, Washington to Albert Wilson Wright and Amy Sutton.  After graduating from Rapid City Central High School in 1965, he was drafted into the Army and served in the 8th Division.  Ron served with distinction and was honorably discharged in 1968.  After the Army, Ron attended Bacone Junior College in Muskogee, Oklahoma and graduated with an Associates Degree.

Ron met his wife Phyllis in Lower Brule and they were married on July 11, 1974 in St. Mary's Catholic Church.  He joined the Teacher Core Program out of Black Hills State University in Spearfish.  Throughout his career, he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Lower Brule Housing Authority, and finally finished his career working for St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lower Brule for more than 20 years.

Ron loved fishing, taking care of his beautiful yard, drinking a good cup of coffee, visiting with friends and family, and laughing.  He was known for his unique laugh.  Ron loved life and enjoying his friends, family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Phyllis Wright and his four children:  Ernest Pourier of Kansas City, Missouri; Charles Chris LaRoche of Lower Brule, South Dakota; Dawn VanRossum of Des Moines, Iowa; and Albert Wright of Alexandria Virginia.  Sisters Shirley Murphy and Charlotte Vaagen of Minot, North Dakota.  Ronald is also survived by his cousin, Connie Wright-Good Shield of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Ronald Wright passed away on December 18, 2020 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota due medical issues associated with cancer.

He was proceeded in death by his mother and father; brother Gary Wright, sister Pat Snyder, Aunt and Uncle Evangeline and Rudy Wright and cousin Bobby Wright.

Pallbearers are his best friend Ben "Bugsy" Thompson, Ronnie Pourier, Charlie LaRoche, Shawn LaRoche, Eugene Giago Jr. and Robert Traversie, Sr.

Honorary Pallbearers are all of his nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
