Ronald W.
Trimble
August 25, 1952 – May 17, 2023
Ronald Wayne Trimble, 70, was born August 25, 1952 to Bill and Jeanette Trimble in Minneapolis. Growing up in Bloomington, Ron liked to hang out with the neighborhood kids playing sports, riding bikes, and fishing. He loved going fishing on Mille Lacs Lake with his dad, his uncles, and their friends, as well as visiting Menahga, MN, where his dad was from. After graduation from Bloomington Lincoln High School, Ron attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion on a football scholarship, and never left South Dakota. He owned the Charcoal Lounge (Char Bar) in Vermillion for many years, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
He married Linda Neumann (later divorced), and together they had three children – Lindsey, Corey and Stephanie. When Ron sold the bar in 1989, he went to work for the newly formed video lottery branch of the SD Retail Liquor Dealers Association.
On a chance meeting at the SDRLDA's liquor convention in Pierre that year, he met Robyn Vye from Minneapolis, and they began a long-distance romance. Robyn sold her house, moved to SD, and they were married on August 10, 1990 in Las Vegas – by a blind minister who wore socks with his sandals. They made their home in Sioux Falls, where Ron eventually owned and operated a viedo lottery casino until his retirement. Ron loved to golf, taking many trips with his good friends on golf vacations, and as a member of the Westward Ho Country Club. Robyn used to say the only way Ron could have golfed more is if there were eight days in the week.
In 2002-3, Ron and Robyn bought their own little piece of paradise in rural Pukwana. Ron invested a lot of time and effort into converting much of the property to habitat, making it the perfect place to reconnect with family, old friends, and new friends for pheasant hunting, deer hunting, and a place for all to gather and have fun.
Whenever asked why he didn't do pay hunts, Ron would answer, "because then it would be a job." When Robyn retired in 2018, they moved permanently to the country. Ron and Robyn were not only husband and wife, but worked well together on many projects and made a great team.
Ron passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2023 from cardiac arrest at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He is greatly missed by Robyn and so many family members and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Robyn of almost 33 years, his children, sister Kathy Miller, nephews Adam and Aaron Harrington, his cousins who were like brothers, and so many close friends and family that are far too many to mention.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his dear uncles Richard and Ernie Trimble and Wally Stewart, and his brother-in-law Greg Miller.
At a later date, when grief and sorrow have been replaced by happy memories, there will be a celebration of Ron's life to be announced.
