Obituary

Funeral services for Rollin J. Busack, 88, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 26, 2023 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain, SD.  Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Rollin J. Busack, 88, of Chamberlain, SD passed away on May 20, 2023 at Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD.

Rollin James Busack was born August 7, 1934 to Walter and Pearl (Goetsch) Busack. He grew up and attended school in Chamberlain.

On August 17, 1956, Rollin was united in marriage to Loy Houser and to this union three children were born Charles, Scott, and Molly.

Rollin worked for Chamberlain Wholesale delivering food for sixty years before retiring.  After his retirement, Rollin loved to travel so he would drive cars for Harry K Chevrolet.  He also did yard work and tree trimming for many years with his kids, his brother and nephew.

Rollin attained his pilots license when his kids were young and enjoyed taking them for rides.  In his later years, he found a new hobby of metal detecting.  You would see him all over town searching for treasures.  He always had a joke and a wisecrack to share with anyone that would listen.  He loved making people laugh.

He also loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed teaching his sons and grandsons how to hunt and fish.  RJ took many trips with this grandkids to the Black Hills.  They always had so much fun fishing and would come home with some pretty fun memories.  His favorite trip was to Alaska to show his grandkids the beauty of the land.

Rolllin is survived by his three children Charles Busack, Scott (Lisa) Busack, and Molly (Darren) Odens; a sister Marlys Beach - Nitschke; a sister-in-law Judy Busack; grandchildren Mark, Michelle,  Ethan, Tayler, Erica, Cheyenne, Ashley G., Rondelle, and Tyler; 18 great grandkids; and one great great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Gary Busack, sister and brother-in-law Kay Reuer and Helmet; brothers-in-law Wayne Beach and Paul Nitschke; niece Linda Reuer; granddaughter  Miranda Sue Busack; and great granddaughter Kenahi Flute.
