Funeral services for Robert Keith Kennedy, Sr. 60, of Mitchell, SD will be 10:00 am Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule.

Specialist Robert K. "Chief" Kennedy, Sr. passed away on February 23, 2019 at home in Mitchell, SD.

Robert Keith Kennedy was born July 23, 1958 to Rudy Vincent Kennedy and Alice Ann Rencountre (Goodface) in Miller, SD.  He attended elementary, junior high, and Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD where he set many cross country records.  He continued on to receive his diploma at St. Mary's Military School.

On March 24, 1989, Robert was united in marriage to Grace Provincial in Mitchell, SD.

Robert enjoyed playing basketball, running cross country, and weight lifting during his younger years.  As he aged he continued running, playing basketball, chess, and loved watching his grandchildren play football and wrestling.  He was a very dedicated and courageous Army Veteran who served in the United States Army from January 23, 1976 to January 22, 1979 and again from January 22, 1980 until August 31, 1981 when he was Honorably Discharged as an E4 Specialist.  He was very caring, compassionate, and willing to help anybody in their time of need.  He was a loving father and grandfather to all his children and grandchildren.

Robert will forever be loved by those of us that he left behind.  He is survived by his ex-wife Grace Kennedy; his five children: daughter Caroline Kennedy, and sons Christopher (Elizabeth Little Hoop) Kennedy, Codi Kennedy, Robert "Bobby" Kennedy Jr., and Jesse White Mouse all of Mitchell, SD; 13 grandchildren Kyle, Cole, Dominick, Beau, Seth, Tyrell, Sean, Rocky, Troy, Ali, Trinity, Rebecka, and Jasper; brothers and sisters: Carol (Goodface) Thigh of Lower Brule, SD, Bessie A. (Goodface) Loudner of Lower Brule, SD, Carol Ellen (Terry Quilt) Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD, Deborah Beardsley of Lower Brule, SD, Carla Schultz of Springfield, MO, Ann (Mogen) Palmeer of New Jersey, Rochelle Goodface of Rapid City, SD, Keith Rencountre of Lower Brule, SD, Roderick (Rachel) Kennedy of California, Monte Guffin of Watertown, SD, Keith Goodface of Sioux Falls, SD, and Emmette Goodface of Lower Brule, SD; aunts Pearl Colombe of Lower Brule, SD and Claudia McBride; uncles Robert A. Kennedy of Lower Brule, SD; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents Rudolph and Alice; two children Nicole Kennedy and Daniel Kennedy; brothers Cephais Goodface Jr., Douglas Beardsley, Sheldon Solomon, Rudolph D. Kennedy Jr., and Burton Goodface; and two nephews Rudolph Kennedy III and Robert Thigh.
