Rio D. Owen

April 24th 1967- September 21st 2022

Rio D. Owen was born on April 24th 1967 to Juanita M. Harrison (Wright) and Charles J Owen in Rapid City South Dakota. He passed away peacefully at the Chamberlain nursing home.

Rio was raised by his step father the late Rev. Everett Harrison and Juanita in Bad Nation SD. He attended and graduated from the Crow Creek High School. Faithfully attending and dedicating his life to the Faith of God, The Catholic Church of Fort Thompson was a big part of Rio's everyday life. Throughout his years he has built friendships with many people in the Fort Thompson and Chamberlain area, always willing to help anyone at any time with anything he could. Rio had a love for the Fort Thompson Police Department, where he worked for many years as a dispatcher.

Rio is survived by his mother Juanita Harrison, one brother Richard Lunderman- Nephew Richard Lunderman III, Sister Gayla Randall- niece Amiee Randall, nephew Lenard Todd, nephew William Randall, nephew Owen, Sister Delrita Lunderman (JR) - niece Tessica Lunderman (Steve), niece Jasmine Pickner-Bell (Luke), niece Starr Chief Eagle, niece Delacina Chief Eagle, Sister Victoria Owen (Lenard), niece Naomi Stone, nephew Late John Stone Jr, niece Elaine Stone (Zach). Many Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, cousins and extended family. One Special Grandpa Rev. Webster Two Hawk, one special uncle Butch Felix (Annie).

Rio proceeded in death by his wife Late Lisa Owen, who he wished to be buried with.

Funeral services for Rio Owen, 55, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Fort Thompson Tribal Hall in Fort Thompson, SD with burial of his ashes in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD. Wake services will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the Fort Thompson Tribal Hall in Fort Thompson, SD.
