Obituary

Funeral services for Raynard E. Bad Moccasin, 50, of Fort Thompson will be 10:00 am Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery at Fort Thompson.  Wake services will be Thursday and Friday at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson.

Raynard Elliot Bad Moccasin was born April 25, 1970 to Robert "Bobbie" Bad Moccasin and Ethelreda Ross Bad Moccasin.  He attended school in Fort Thompson, Pierre Indian Learning Center and later graduated from Santee.  In 1990, moving back to Fort Thompson living with his aunty Barb Ross, volunteering for the Fort Thompson Police Department and working various jobs.  In 1996, he moved to Rapid City while in Rapid City he had a daughter named Rayona Elicia Bad Moccasin.  In 1998, he moved back to Fort Thompson to help take care of his mother until her passing in 2017.

Raynard enjoyed working as a cook at the Lode Star Casino.  He worked as a day laborer for Crow Creek C-Store.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends visiting, listening to music, playing card games, and dominoes.

Raynard made his journey to the Spirit World on September 8, 2020 at home at the age of 50 years.  He leaves behind a daughter Rayona Bad Moccasin of Rapid City; his step father Bernard Bad Moccasin, Sr.; three brothers Robbie Bad Moccasin of Minneapolis, MN, Glyndon Bad Moccasin of Fort Thompson and Bernard Bad Moccasin of Fort Thompson; a sister Renee Bad Moccasin of Minneapolis, MN; and a hunka sister Margaret Wilson and family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Lisa Owen, and a special cousin Russell Obago.
