Peter "Pete" Goos, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 73 at his home in Kennebec on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Pete Louis was born on June 9, 1949 to Albert and Marleen (Soulek) Goos in Mitchell, SD.  Pete grew up around the Chamberlain area where he met the love of his life, Annie Holzhauser.  They were united in marriage on June 17, 1967, having four children: two sons Stacey and Jim, and two daughters, Misty and Marcey.

Pete loved mornings.  He would be the first one up to make coffee and had Annie's cup waiting for her. He took pride in his yard and home, both always in top notch condition.  Keeping the bird feeders full so him and Annie could watch them come in to eat, sometimes getting lucky enough to get his phone out to get a picture to share, of course they each had a special name.  He loved animals, and dogs loved him or his treats, not sure on that.  He spoke of his chocolate lab Moe often and how much he missed him.

Pete loved watching PBR bull riding every chance he got, and was thrilled when his son-in-law Travis took him to his first live event in Sioux Falls.

Pete said his prayers every night for his family that they travel safely and to say goodnight to his mom and infant son Stacey.

He loved his phone, waiting for his morning call from Marcey on her way to work, face timing with Misty, Travis, and all the grandkids before bed in the evening, always checking on Jim and Sandra to see what Jim was working on.

He enjoyed calling family members on their birthday to give his version of the Grand Ole Opry birthday song, always ending the call with mom and dad, or grandpa and grandma and Bailey sure love you.

Most of us had a special nickname that he used for us, dogs were not left out on this, I think he found them easier to remember than our names.  If you have one, he used it often. (tubbles, LU LU, Matilda, Patrick, Charlie, Penelope, Devinski, Sugarplum, Buttons, and the list goes on…)

Most of all, Pete had a heart of gold, was loyal, protective and loved his wife Annie with all his heart for the 55 years they had together. He will be waiting to greet her with Heavenly arms outstretched.

Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Annie; children Jim (Sandra) Goos of Kennebec, Misty (Travis) Thompson of Fort Hail Bottom, and Marcey (Jason) Urban of Kennebec; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brothers LeRoy (Janet) Goos of Virginia Beach, CA, Pat (Diana) Goos of Oacoma, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his infant son Stacey; great grandson Riley James Goos; parents Albert and Marleen; sisters Marlys Schaefer and Gloria Solheim; brothers Daniel and Roger Goos; and parents-in-law Ernie Holzhauser and Betty Hansler.

Thank you Pete for the life you have given to so many and the love you showed us.  We return that love to you now as we gather in honor of you.
