Funeral services for Norman D. Thompson Sr., 72,, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 16, 2020 at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson with burial in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery at Crow Creek, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 pm Thursday at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson SD.

Norman Dale Thompson Sr., 72, of Fort Thompson, SD passed away on October 10, 2020 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Norman was born February 28, 1948 in Rosebud, SD to Melvin and Amanda Thompson. He was the seventh child of fourteen brothers and sisters.

Norman gave 30 years of his life to the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe holding various positions including councilmember. After retirement, he enjoyed being a member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe Constitution and Bylaws Revision Committee and the Law and Order Revision Committee.

Norman's legacy was his "little tribe" - his family. He held many titles in life included but not limited to:

Son, Brother, Daddy, Uncle, Grandpa, Great Papa, and Friend.

He carried his titles proudly and took every chance he could to boast about his love within them. His "favorites" know who they are.

He is survived by his children:

Deana Thompson, Norman Thompson Jr., Scott Behrands, Dale Haukaas, Nadine Haukaas, and Tanya Pearman.

He will be most remembered for being a family man, and his willingness to help those around him when called upon.

He was preceded in death by:

His parents – Melvin and Amanda Thompson,

Siblings – Tommy Thompson, Avery Thompson Sr.

and Harold Thompson Sr.
