Obituary

Funeral services for Nina J. Stephens, 93, of Chamberlain, SD will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church in Chamberlain, SD with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.  Visitation with family present will begin Monday at 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Missouri Valley Christian School in Chamberlain.

Nina was born September 11, 1925 to Carl and Ruth (Scholl) Park at Castlewood, SD.  She attended school at Castlewood, but after her mother was badly burned in an accident, left school to care for her. She later received her GED.

Nina was blessed with two loving husbands during her life, Leonard Kopinski and Ervin Carl Stephens and five children, Sandy, Roger, Lorri, Nan, and Steve.

She was a successful business woman, traveling the surrounding area to training Kelly Inn managers & staff.  Nina made Chamberlain her forever home until June 2019 when she moved to the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home.

Throughout her life Nina was passionate about the King James Bible, embraced her church friends as family, and was proud to be one of Chamberlain's fiercest "prayer warriors".

Nina passed away on July 12, 2019 at the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake at the age of 93 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are two daughters Sandy (John) Parker and Lorri (Tim) Amsden, two sons Roger (Karin) Stephens and Steve (Vic) Stephens, son-in-law John Roskos, her grandchildren Rob, Stephenie, Erin, Malissa, Krista, Lindsey, Amee, Kaci, and Brittni and 11 (soon to be 12) great grand children.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, sisters Shirley, Mary, and Max, brothers Duane and Howard, and daughter Nan.
