Nicholas James Doney was born on April 20th, 1981 in Pierre South Dakota to Art and Lynn Doney.  Nick spent his childhood years in Chamberlain growing up playing baseball and other sports.  Nick's middle school years were spent at Sunshine Bible Academy and from there attended high school in Kadoka before graduating in 1999 in Rapid City.

In October 1999, Nick enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he spent four years as an infantryman with 2nd Battalion 7th Marine Division in 29 Palms, CA.  Nick deployed from California to the far east to Japan and Korea where he and many of his Marine friends worked with the Korean Rock Marines doing their duty in service to our country.  Nick was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in October 2003 and returned to South Dakota. After the Marine Corps, Nick spent some time in Sioux Falls before taking more of a permanent place in Rapid City working for Mid Continent Communications and Vast Communications as a sales representative.

This is where he met and married Kaylynn Burma from Platte, SD and in 2013 came a son Gatlin.  A couple years later in 2015 a daughter Gabrielle "Gabby" was born.  Within a year Nick moved his family to Platte, SD where he continued to work in the communications industry in Minneapolis.  Upon separation of marriage, Nick decided to stay in Platte to stay close to his children and worked for Willrodt Ford dealership.

Nick always loved the game of baseball and was the biggest Minnesota Twins fan. He played softball in his 20's and 30's and also coached youth baseball in Platte. Fishing and hunting pheasants with his kids and nephews was always a passion for Nick that he enjoyed very much. Nick was loved and cherished by many, not afraid to give a helping hand to someone and always positive and had a strong Christian faith.

Nick passed away on May 31, 2024 as a result of a tragic automobile accident.  He is preceded in death by his father Arthur James Doney.  Gratefully sharing his life are his mother Lynn Doney of Chamberlain, two children Gatlin and Gabrielle "Gabby" Doney of Platte, brother Gabe and sister in law Lonnie Jo Doney of Rapid City and their four children Colton, Corter, Camden and Charli Doney, along with many other family and friends.
