Obituary

Funeral services for Nancy Harmon, 68, of Chamberlain formerly of Kennebec, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024 with visitation to begin at 9:00 a.m., at the Kennebec Lutheran Church in Kennebec, SD with burial in the Kennebec Cemetery at Kennebec, SD.

Nancy was born December 30, 1955 in Newton Iowa and passed away July 22, 2024 at the Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain. After her birth the family moved back to Kennebec where she attended school and lived most of her life. In April of 1974, Nancy married Richard Harmon and to this union two children were born-Tabatha and Thomas.  They lived for a time in Fort Thompson, Oacoma, and Piedmont before she moved back to Kennebec to raise her children.

The biggest joys in her life were caring for her kids, grandkids, and her nieces and nephew.   She also enjoyed playing a mean game of pitch with the locals. She loved to visit with everyone.  Nancy's work life consisted of several different jobs.  She was a great cook and loved feeding people, and she enjoyed her time as the activities coordinator at the old Chamberlain nursing home. Her favorite job was working at the Kennebec Library.  She was an avid reader, so the library job was perfect for her.

In the summer of 2011, she suffered a serious stroke and spent the last 13 years of her life at the Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain.  Even though this was a challenging time for her, she pushed through and seldom complained.  If you would ask her how she was doing her reply would always be "WONDERFUL!"

Nancy leaves behind her mom-Mary Kreager, children-Tabatha and John Mundlien, Thomas and Christal Harmon, grandchildren-Braxton and Emily Harmon and children Lili, Carter, and Lane; Richard Harmon, Abigail Harmon; Kalibur Mundlien, Amelia Mundlien, sister-Lori Ness, nieces-Layne Larson (Ryan) and their children Trig and Reese, Maycee Ness, and nephew Elliott Gourneau and his daughter Ivy.

Waiting on the other side is her Dad, Harold Kreager, many aunts and uncles, and several cousins.

Nancy's family would like to take this time to thank the staff at the Sanford Care Center for the 13 years of tireless care they gave to Nancy.  You definitely were like family to her, and we appreciate you so much.
