Funeral services for Mya L. Cruz-Navarro, 7, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Crow Creek Tribal Hall Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Conkicaska Presbyterian Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday at the Crow Creek Tribal Hall Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD.
Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 1:00 p.m. on Monday from the funeral home.
Mya LeAnn Cruz-Navarro was born October 27, 2016 at Avera St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, SD to Bridget A. Harrison and the late Martine Cruz-Navarro Jr.
Our dearly beloved little Miss Mya made her journey on May 1, 2024 at the Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Mya began her education at Crow Creek Headstart in Fort Thompson, SD. She loved her teacher, Inez Traversie, Daisy Merrit, Charity Merrit, Donny Robol, Donelle Thompson, and Tracy Hopkins. Mya also attended Crow Creek Tribal Elementary School, Kindergarten and First Grade and loved her teachers Charlotte Bale, Jamie Marks, Christine Loreto, and Lucy Fallis.
Mya was an extraordinary little girl, so full of life. She was very smart, energetic, strong, and above all, the most caring, loving sister, daughter, niece, and friend anyone could ever ask for. Mya loved to dance and sing in front of the television along with her siblings. Her favorite movies were Moana, Encanto, Barbie Movie, Trolls, Frozen, and Luca. Mya, specifically loved "Trolls" Princess Poppy. Mya made some tik tok videos on her own, without her mother knowing.
Mya lost her father just five months ago due to a similar condition. She was her father's little princess.
Mya broke a lot of hearts, due to her untimely passing. She will forever be greatly missed by all and will hold close in our hearts the many amazing memories. Mya has made in her short seven years of life.
Mya, suddenly became very sick, causing a heart condition. Sweet girl, as the nurses would call her, fought to the very end, with her mother at her side every step of the way.
Mya LeAnn Cruz-Navarro is survived by her mother Bridget "Jetty" Harrison of Fort Thompson, SD; stepfather Brandon J. Sazue Sr. of Fort Thompson, SD; all her sister Aaliyah Staples, Marlee Sazue, and Bretta Sazue all of Fort Thompson; brothers Tayshaun Staples, Robert Yamni Staples III, Bentley Langdeau, Myles Cruz-Navarro, Myrick Cruz-Navarro, and Braeden Sazue all of Fort Thompson; stepbrother Dantony Sazue; aunties Tessa Cruz-Navarro, Maria Cruz-Navarro, Yolanda Aguileria, Bobbie Drapeau, and Deana Drapeau all of Fort Thompson; uncles Javier "Chongo" Aguileria, Kyle McGhee, Vincent "Rocky" Thompson Jr., Emanuel "Manny" Harrison, Isiah Harrison, Charlie Fire Cloud, and Vilas Fallis Jr.; grandpa's Vincent "Rocky" Thompson Sr., Rex Harrison, Arnold Harrison, Jess Harrison Kurt Harrison,; grandma's June Harrison, Delores Fallis, Norma Harrison, Stacee Harrison; special "hunka" grandparents Kay Koster and Wes Pearson; cousins Thia Cruz-Navarro, Janiyah Cruz-Navarro, Drea Cruz-Navarro, Devontae Cruz-Navarro, Dom Jr., Laleya Aguileria, Asanti Aguileria, Tacea Grace Carter Harrison, Kaden Harrison, and Justin Hackley, and all the others who loved and lost her including April Fallis, Leslie "KK" Sazue, Cheyenne Sazue, and Roxanne Sazue.
Preceding her in death were her father Martin Cruz- Navarro Jr., grandmothers Paula Harrison, Brenda Harrison, MariAnn Marie Drappeaux; grandfather Corbin Shoots The Enemy, Ron Harrison, Steve Harrison Sr., Martin Cruz-Navarro, Sr., uncles Cleveland, Frank, and Marvin Jr.; aunties Verlinda, Francine, and Dawn Drappeaux; great grandfather Paul Harrison, special great grandmother Robert Harrison/McBride.
