Funeral services for Micheal J. "Mike" Selland, 68, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.  Visitation will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. with prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain.

Micheal Joseph Selland, 68, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD.

Mike was born June 13, 1956 in Murdo, SD to Knute and Carol Janice (Faber) Selland. He was raised in Lake Andes, Spencer, and the family finally settled in Chamberlain, SD.  He attended school at Lake Andes Country School and when the family moved to Chamberlain he attended Chamberlain Public Schools where he graduated in 1976.

In August 1986, Mike was united in marriage to Deborah Osborne and to this union two children were born Michele and Daniel.

Mike worked as a cook at the Truck Arena and the Rainbow Café, as a housekeeper at Sanford Hospital, and later as the night custodian at Al's Oasis.

Mike resided in Oregon for a short time.  After his retirement, he resided at Riverview Retirement Assisted Living and later moved to Prairie View Assisted Living in Kimball, SD.

Mike enjoyed playing darts, bowling, playing cards, and his favorite pastime was doing 1000 piece puzzles while drinking a bottle of Mountain Dew.  He also enjoyed visits from his grandkids, family and friends.

Gratefully sharing his life are his daughter Michele, son Daniel, ex-wife Deb Selland, grandkids Jaxon, Shailey, and Cole, sisters Carol Rosales, Paula (August) Bortz, brothers Chuck (Joyce) Selland and Tom (Cindy) Selland, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Knute and Janice Selland, and brothers-in-law Pilo Rosales and Kenneth Osborne.
