"Mike" Anderson, 56, of Kennebec will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kennebec with burial in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery at Kennebec, SD.  Visitation will be Monday at 5:00 p.m. with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kennebec.

Mike was a bit of an old soul – perhaps that is why the Lord called him home 'early'.  One did not really get to know him by listening to what he said; but more by what he did.

Michael W. Anderson was born July 19, 1969 to William Hjalmer "Bill" and Lola Mae (Fitzpatrick) Anderson.  He attended school in Lyman County and graduated from Lyman High School in 1987.

His actions showed his priorities – families and friends.  He doted on his brother's kids as they came along.  It wasn't long before he left college, married, moved back to the farm and started his own family.  His philosophy to raising his 5 kids was 'give them enough rope to hang themselves, and be there to cut the rope if they went too far".  He was a great Dad and Grandpa, not only to his own kids and grandkids but pretty much any stray that landed on his front step

He worked the farm with his son Jacob, and as Luke grew, he also joined in.  Mike loved hunting, fishing, biking (especially teaching his kids).    He had the ability and willingness to help anybody that may need a hand.

And he was a pretty good cook.

Mike passed away on March 6, 2026 at home at Kennebec, SD.

Mike is survived by his mother Lola Anderson, his sons Kaleb Anderson, Kristopher (Erica) Anderson, Jacob (Loriann) Anderson, Luke Anderson, a daughter Danielle (Lee) Burgeson and six grandkids Gabrielle, Isabella, Alex, Blaine, Rhett and Rowen.

He is also survived by his siblings Rebecca MacLanders, Deborah (Richard) Anderson Fineran, Mary Jo Anderson, Patricia (Anderson) O'Neill, and James (Debi) Anderson.

Preceding him in death were his father Bill and nephew Dan Palmer.
