Miami Cane Thompson, 21, was born October 21, 2002 in Pierre, SD to Nicole Thunder Horse and Wesley Thompson, Sr.

Miami grew up in Fort Thompson, SD all his life and attended the Crow Creek Tribal School where he graduated in 2021.

Miami was Valedictorian of the CCHS Class of 2021. He was always a top student his entire life. Earning him many awards and gifts. He enjoyed playing basketball and also ran cross country where he qualified for state.

He loved all his friends and family. Especially his niece, Mae'va. His favorite teams were the Miami Hurricanes (his name sake) and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Miami is survived by his father Wes Thompson, Sr. of Fort Thompson, SD and mother Nicole Thunder Horse (Chamberlain, SD). Sisters; Terra Thompson, Kerra (Cameron) Dolphus, Sarah (Wyatt St. John) Thompson and Casara (Tredgan) Thompson all of Pierre, SD. Brothers; Trevor Thompson and Wesley "Bubba" Thompson, Jr. of Fort Thompson, SD. His 9 nieces; Taylee, Heavenly, Milliana, Averi, Bailee, Laikyn, Reece, Ryin and Mae'va. His 6 nephews; Tayshaun, Dayden, Jacoby, Tayton, Taymian and Tredan. His grandpa Melvin Thompson, Jr.

Miami joins his grandmas in heaven. Dicey, Gina and Lynette. Uncle Troy Sr., cousin Troy Jr. and nephew Taytum.

A prayer service and blessing of the urn will held Thursday, June 27th at the Crow Creek Tribal Hall at 7pm in Fort Thompson, SD.
