Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD. Wake services will be 7:30 p.m., Wednesday and 7:00 p.m., Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.
Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday from the funeral home.
Our beloved son Martin Lloyd Big Eagle made his journey on October 31, 2024. He was 28 years young. Martin Lloyd Big Eagle was born October 23, 1996 to Madeline (Jennesse) Big Eagle and Donald Big Eagle Sr.
Martin grew up in Fort Thompson, SD. He attended grade school at Chamberlain Elementary through high school graduating May 15, 2016.
Martin was a very kindhearted and loving young man. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.
Some of Martin's hobbies and like's were playing games on his PS5, going fishing, working on vehicles, shooting around and cruising around. He liked to joke around and tease people. He loved spending time with his family. He was a Green Bay Packers Fan.
Martin had a special relationship with his cousin Wambdi and nephews Gabe and Demitrius, always spending time together more like brother relationships than cousin and nephews.
Martin held various jobs throughout his young life. He worked as a security guard during COVID, worked at Walmart and Menards. He also worked at Willrodts in Chamberlain, Lode Star Casino in Fort Thompson, UPS in Pierre, and at the water plant with his dad, Don, in Fort Thompson. He was a good worker until his death.
Martin had a very special uncle "Wade" that he lost. He struggled after his death.
Martin and his father Don shared a very special bond together. They were always together, working on cars and enjoying each other's company, always working on projects together daily. He will be greatly missed by his father and mother and his family. He left a void in our lives.
Martin is loved by all his family and friends. He has a special friend Alayna St. John.
Martin is survived by his mother and father Madeline Big Eagle and Don Big Eagle Sr., sisters Zona Big Eagle and Mildred Jennesse, brothers Benjamin Big Eagle and Donald Big Eagle Jr., special nephew Gabe Big Eagle, Demitrius Harrison, and cousin Wambdi Jennesse, his nieces and nephews Crystal Big Eagle, Zayleigh Big Eagle, Qayleigh Big Eagle, Cassius Big Eagle, and Allianna Harrison.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents Mary Agnes St. John Big Eagle and Henry Martin Big Eagle Jr., maternal grandparents Mildred Grey Cloud Jennesse and Lloyd Jennesse Jr., special uncle Elton Wade Jennesse and Randy Big Eagle, and numerous uncles and relatives.
