Funeral services for Martha Anderson, 92, of Mitchell, formerly of Chamberlain will be private family services with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.
Martha was born September 3, 1928 at Harrold, SD to James McManus and Lauretta Taylor. She was raised in the Lake Preston and Oldham area where she attended school.
On August 8, 1950 Martha was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Anderson at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain. They made their home in the Chamberlain area where she worked at several places including Kulm Laundry, the Truck Arena, Derby Cafe, and Sunset Valley Haven Nursing Home.
She then became employed at the Community Bailey Hospital and later Mid Dakota Hospital where she worked for over 25 years.
Together Chuck and Martha enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church services and also cleaned the church.
Martha enjoyed crafting, quilting and loved making wall art out of tin. She took a painting class and also liked to garden. She and Chuck enjoyed attending auctions.
Martha passed away October 27, 2020 at the Avera Brady Nursing Home in Mitchell, SD at the age of 92 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her two daughters Gloria Mitchell of Mitchell, SD and Carol Wintersteen of Mount Vernon, SD; a son Mike Anderson of Mount Vernon, SD; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother Darrell Jensen of Oklahoma; sister-in-law Virginia Anderson of Chamberlain; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, stepfather John Jensen, stepmother Agnes McManus, husband Chuck, son David Anderson, two sisters Ramona Gross and Helen Morrison, niece Audrey Durkin, two nephews Raymond Wrightson and Randy Sees, sister-in-law Marlyn Sees-Gray, and three brothers-in-law Amos Anderson, Carl Sees, and Everett Gray.
