Obituary

Visitation for Marilyn "Sue" Ziegler, 72, of Pierre formerly of Lower Brule, SD will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain with graveside services to follow at the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery at Iron Nation, SD.

Sue was born January 18 th , 1948 in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Martin and Peggy (Jira) Healy. She attended school in Chamberlain graduating in 1966. After her high school graduation in September 1966 Sue moved to Oakland, California and worked as an overseas telephone operator. During this time Sue met the love of her life, Billy.

In 1967 Sue left Oakland and moved to Lower Brule where her and Billy started their life together. On November 8 th , 1968 in Kennebec, South Dakota Sue and Bill were united in marriage. In 1980, Sue and Bill turned their lives over to Jesus Christ and shared the Gospel of Jesus through their musical ministry.

Sue and Bill also owned various business throughout their life from the D & D Bar in Chamberlain, the Beer Shack in Lower Brule, their Commercial Fishing Business, Sue's Satellite Cable Service, The Wreck, the Arcade and Laundry Mat, and the Bait & Stuff. Sue started her career with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe in 1972 working various jobs; an employee in the New Careers Program, Clerk of courts, a teachers aid at the Lower Brule Elementary and the tribes financial analyst until she retired in 2014. A short three (3) years later Sue came out of retirement and went back to work for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe until her death.

Sue made her journey to the Spirit world on Thursday, December 3 rd , 2020 at 3:22 pm at the Avera St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, South Dakota at the age of 72 years due to COVID 19.

Grateful to share her life are her sons Myron, Leonard, Tom, Bryan, Bill Jr., James and Chuck. Daughters Pam and Hollie. Her brother Tim and sisters Patty, Kathy and Lori and her many grand children and great-grandchildren. Proceeding her in death are her parents, her husband Bill and her sons Elmer, Mike and Wes and brother Mike.
