Obituary

Celebration of Life services for Margey L. Peddycoart, 77, of Oacoma, SD will be 12:00 noon, Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain, SD. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services on Monday.  A private burial for family will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Oacoma, SD.

Margey Leone Peddycoart was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Margey left this world to be with the Lord November 10th, 2025 at the age of 77.

Margey was born to Lawerence and Leone Pickner on March 8th, 1948 in Chamberlain, South Dakota. Margey graduated high school and met her husband Joe who was the love of her life. Joe and Margey were united in marriage on July 9th, 1966. Joe and Margey were together on this earth to celebrate 56 years of marriage together. Margey was a people person. She worked most of her life in restaurants either as a waitress or bartender in the Chamberlain area. Margey loved to interact with local people and also really enjoyed talking to the travelers coming through. She always met everyone with a smile on her face and would go above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Margey was such a loving and caring woman and would do anything to help anyone. Her sense of humor was amazing, and she could make you laugh regardless of how you were feeling.

Margey enjoyed entertaining people for family gatherings and was an amazing baker. She always loved to feed a crew of family and loved the company. She had a special talent for turning small things into something beautiful whether it was flower arrangements, holiday decorations, or her self-made home decor. She loved going to the local casinos playing penny slot machines with her husband Joe and always had some sort of funny lucky charm with her. Margey was a caretaker for many and her selfless dedication to her husband, brother in law and sister in law really showed how big her heart was during the toughest times.

Her pride and joy were her two children Penny, and Chris, her grandchildren Taylor, Kendall, Joseph, Canyon, and Carter. Margey also had a very special bond and love for her daughter in law Cari. She was very proud of her children and cherished every moment she had with them. She really enjoyed baking cookies for the grandkids even if she couldn't be around for the holiday's she would always send a package of baked goodies for everyone. She had a very special niece Briana Pickner who was like another daughter to her. She loved their weekend visits and phone calls and trying to teach her how to cook. Margey also had a very special relationship with Doug and Brian Mahrt and many others that enjoyed her company and good times at the man cave next door.

Margey is survived by her daughter  Penny Peddycoart and Marty Waugh, son Chris and Cari Peddycoart, grandchildren Taylor and  Jeffery Solmone, Kendall Dill, Joseph Peddycoart, Canyon Peddycoart, and Carter Peddycoart, great grandchildren Nova and Cade Solmone, sister Margaret Peddycoart, brother and sister in law Pat and Judy Peddycoart, and Bob Peddycoart, brother Michael Pickner, and sister Mary and Bob Drewess, her bestie Sarah Funderburk, she also had many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lawerence and Leone Pickner, father and mother in law Orvel and Florence Peddycoart, husband Joseph Peddycoart, brother Lawrence Pickner, brother Robert Pickner, brother in law Thomas Peddycoart, sister in law Alice Cook, nephew Tony Peddycoart, niece Annette Peddycoart, nephew Rodney Hickey,  and great nephew Monte Pickner.
