Maliyah Larayah Shields was born on September 5, 2003 to Robert Miller Jr. and Madeline Shields in Mitchell, SD. From the day she was born Maliyah's sweet personality and smile melted your heart. She had a sweet, kind and gentle Spirit that made her a beautiful person. Her sweet soft spoken voice was her best trait that completed her.

She began her education at Chamberlain Elementary, Crow Creek Middle School and Crow Creek High School. She was a grade A student in Chamberlain and Crow Creek receiving many awards academically. She played volleyball and basketball during middle school and received awards for honor dorm and honor dorm of the week. She was manager of the high school football team. Many of her teachers praised her for being an outstanding student.

She loved all children, her nieces Olivia Joann, Kambrynn Grace, and Mila Renee; nephew Bentley James held a special place in her heart. This past year to present she had the job of babysitting Bents and Mila.
