Lynn Marie McBride was born on December 12, 1972, in Wessington Springs, SD, to Anna Mae Metcalf-Fleury and Roland “Ronnie” McBride. On February 20, 1977, Lynn was baptized as a child of God in Fort Thompson, South Dakota. Her baptism marked an important milestone in her spiritual journey and faith. She grew up in Fort Thompson, South Dakota, where she attended and graduated from Crow Creek Tribal Schools. Later in life, Lynn moved to Winner, South Dakota, with her partner, Brian Sieh.

Throughout her working life, Lynn dedicated herself to caring for children. She worked at Early Head Start, Head Start, and Crow Creek Child Care in Fort Thompson, where she spent many years helping care for and teach children. Her work reflected an important part of who she was and the many lives she touched along the way.

Above all family was the most important part of Lynn’s life. She was a devoted mother who loved her children dearly and took great joy in watching them grow. Her children were Rory Bishop Jr., Dillon Fleury, Teah Seeking Land, Kira Seeking Land, Cassidy Seeking Land, and Gregory Seeking Land Jr, and stepmother to Tessa Sieh. Lynn shared loving memories with all of her children, especially with her two youngest and spent years laughing and cherishing the bonds they all made together.

Her last four children were born during her relationship with Gregory Seeking Land Sr. and then both parted ways shortly after. Lynn later met the love of her life Brian Sieh and shared eleven years of life together until her passing. Their relationship was filled with love, laughter, and the little moments that made their life together their own. Even when Lynn tried to dodge his affection, the love they shared remained an important part of her life.

Lynn was a loving grandmother and her grandchildren were truly her world. Her grandchildren, Houston His Law, John, Arianna, Teagan Howe and Kennedy Frost held an especially precious place in her heart. She loved spoiling them, spending time with them and showing them love in every way possible. Lynn was fiercely protective of her grandchildren, and anyone who knew her likely understood just how much they meant to her. In her own words, “No one better put a hand on my babies.” Those words captured her protective nature and the deep, unconditional love she had for her grandchildren. Watching them grow and making memories with them truly brought her some of her greatest joys.

If you asked anyone about Lynn it was that she was a one-of-a-kind woman. Known for her stubborn nature, her sense of humor, and her unforgettable personality, she had a way of making herself known wherever she went. She could be a little forgetful or dingy at times, but those quirks were part of what made her uniquely Lynn. She lived life in her own way, and those who knew her will always have stories to tell and memories to cherish.

Lynn enjoyed the simple things in life that brought her joys. Lynn loved her maroon and burgundy colored items, new stands to hold all of her items, good food, new purses, Victoria Secret sprays and B & B handsoaps, binge-watching her favorite shows, and playing slot games on her phone. These simple pleasures were part of the life she made for herself and the memories her loved ones will carry forward.

Another special aspect about Lynn was her love for traveling and experiencing the world around her while collecting memories along the way. She thoroughly enjoyed her travels, as the over 40,000 photographs she took on her phone can attest. She often shared pictures of her trips with her grandchildren, telling them stories about the places she had visited and allowing them to experience her adventures through her photographs. These pictures preserve a special part of Lynn’s life and provide her family with treasured memories for years to come.

Another simple pleasure that Lynn held dearly was her special appreciation for flowers and the beauty they brought to life, specifically her love for roses and sunflowers. Like the flowers she enjoyed, her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who loved her. Her famous line was “Wow, I sure wish I had some flowers” or “Wow, these flowers are almost dead” so to remind those around her that she needed a new bouquet and sure enough, she always got a new one by the end of that day.

Another aspect that was always a part of Lynn was her music and the joy it brought her. Anyone that has ever been to our house in Winner can attest that if Lynn is around there would be music playing. This brought joy to everyone around her, especially when she would start singing to all of us, especially her grandchildren typically making them join in and sing with her. She attended multiple concerts throughout her life and was especially proud of seeing country music star Luke Bryan five times. One of her most memorable experiences took place in Rapid City, where she had the opportunity to touch Luke Bryan and get his autograph. This was a treasured moment that reflected her enthusiasm for his music and her excitement for the things she loved.

Lynn’s life was filled with family, faith, travel, music, flowers, and the many experiences she gathered along the way. Above all, she cherished her children and grandchildren, showing her love through the memories she made, the stories she shared, and the joy she found in spending time with them.

Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Anna Mae Fleury; her stepfather, Harvey “Chaske” Robert Fleury; her sisters, Enola Sazue, Kimberly Big Eagle, and Leatha Loudner; her brother, Orlando Big Eagle; and her nephews, Garrett Hawk and Ethan Big Eagle along with a host of other relatives and friends that are greeting her as she comes to the heavens.

Lynn leaves behind her father, Ronald “Ronnie” McBride; her brothers, Lester McBride and Tristan “Mosey” Big Eagle; her sisters, Candance McBride, Heather McBride, Lillian McBride, Tiffany McBride, Dawn McBride, Stephani McBride, and Alice McBride; her Aunt Donna Devine and Uncle Theodore Metcalf Jr.; her children, Rory Bishop Jr., Dillon Fleury, Teah Seeking Land, Kira Seeking Land, Cassidy Seeking Land, and Gregory Seeking Land Jr.; her stepdaughter, Tessa Sieh; her grandchildren, Houston His Law, John, Arianna, Teagan Howe, and Kennedy Frost; and her partner of eleven years, Brian Sieh. Lynn also leaves behind many other beloved relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory through the stories shared, photographs captured, and the love given from her to all.

Lynn passed away on October 21, 2026 at the Sanford Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in Sioux Falls, SD leaving a hole in each one of our hearts. Though her passing brings sadness to those who love her, the memories of her life and the bonds she shared with her family will continue to be treasured.

As family and friends remember Lynn, may they find comfort in their cherished memories, strength in their faith, and peace in the love that continues to connect them.

Lynn will forever hold a place in the hearts of her children, stepdaughter, grandchildren, significant other, father, extended family, and friends. Her children and grandchildren will always have the pictures she shared, the stories she told, and the memory of a grandmother who loved them fiercely and wanted nothing but the best for her babies and grandbabies.

Though Lynn is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the memories she created, the lessons she taught us, the words she said to us, and, most importantly, the family she cherished.
