Funeral services for Lynn Doney, 73, of Chamberlain, SD will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2024 at the River Hills Fellowship in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Lynn passed away on December 7, 2024 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain, SD.
Nellie Lynn Doney was born November 2, 1951 to Ruth J. Messerly and Ralph E. Graham in Ft. Belknap, Blaine County, Montana. Her given name Nellie was after a grandmother but she preferred Lynn. Lynn grew up in Cutbank, MT. As a young girl, she attended Cutbank, Twin Bridges Boarding and Harlem High School where she graduated in 1969.
Lynn enjoyed school and was a cheerleader for the Harlem Wildcats. She also worked to help with the home. After high school she attended Cosmetology School in Havre, MT graduating with an Associates Degree. It was there she met her husband Arthur J. Doney and the two were married. From 1973 to 1977, they had moved to Spearfish, SD where Arthur earned his teaching degree and Lynn cut hair to support her husband while he was in school. Soon after, they moved to Flandreau, SD where in 1977 their first born Gabe Doney was born. At that time they also spent time in Vermillion, SD while Lynn's husband was earning a Master's degree in Education.
In 1981, a second son was born, Nick Doney. There was some moving back and forth from Spearfish and Flandreau before settling in Chamberlain SD. From around 1983 until the present Lynn resided in Chamberlain living and working various jobs for U.S. Postal Service, St. Joseph Indian School and Al's Oasis gift shop along with other jobs.
Lynn was a devoted Christian woman who loved Jesus. She especially loved to cook and decorate her home. She was also a fan of Donald Trump.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers Gordon "Biggers" Graham, Thomas Lee Foreman, husband Arthur Doney, and Son Nick Doney.
She is survived by her son Gabe (Lonnie) Doney, her grandchildren Colton, Corter, Camden, Charli, Gatlin and Gabby. One brother Tom (Katie) Foreman and two sisters, Virginia Foreman and Judy (Jim) Flanagan.
