Louise entered Heaven's gate at 7:00 a.m. on June 23rd, 2024, on her mother, Venita's birthday and also her granddaughter, Nicole's birthday.
Louise was born on July 23rd,1929 to Howard & Venita (Jorgenson) Stoll at the farm in Buffalo County, SD.
She attended school in Gann Valley, SD and graduated in May 1946. After graduation she worked at the Derby Cafe in Chamberlain. Louise loved working there as a waitress and talked about this job in the later years of her life. This is where she met the love of her life, Dean Stanton. The two started dating and were united in marriage on October 12, 1947, in the Episcopal Church in Chamberlain. To this union 6 children were born: Betty, Steve, Mike, Bill, Deanna, and Judy.
After Dean & Louise married, they started their lives in Chamberlain and later moved to Kennebec, SD where they worked and raised their six healthy children. Louise worked at numerous jobs including The Derby Cafe, King's Motel and owning and operating the Bowling Alley in Kennebec. Dean and Louise packed up their family in 1964 to go start a new life in San Jose, California. They purchased their home where they lived until they left CA. Louise had various jobs in San Jose & Santa Clara, working at TG&Y's, Fiberglass, Winchell's Donuts and the Oak Ridge School in the kitchen. According to her, she made some of the best cinnamon rolls, bread and dinner rolls in the state. They lived in a very nice neighborhood and made some very good friends with the surrounding neighbors. Carol Maridon & Marlene McCombs were two of her best friends while living in California. Louise loved to go shopping, especially at garage sales and flea markets, always looking for the perfect bargains.
Louise had many collections in her life. She loved collecting cookie jars, Pillsbury Dough Boy, and Vintage Doll Head Flower Vases to name a few. When Mike & Bill were young boys, they gave her a Doll Head Vase as a gift. That started her collection of Porcelain Doll Head Vases. Over the years she had a large collection of over 100 vases.
They lived in California for 41 years before moving to Reno, NV in 2005 when Dean's health needed more help and care with his Alzheimer's Disease. They bought a home close to their daughter Deanna & son-in-law Steve. When Dean passed away March 10, 2007, Louise sold their home and moved back to her roots, South Dakota, in January 2008 where she made her home at the Regency Assisted Living in Chamberlain. She remained there for 7 years until her health required her family to move her to Sanford Long Term Care in February 2015. While living at the care center, she enjoyed playing Bingo each week and getting visitors. She loved wearing pretty earrings and necklaces every day and always had her nails polished as well as getting her hair fixed each week. Louise was a resident there until her death.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and also a great cook and baker. She loved to crochet and made several blankets and doilies that some still have and enjoy to this day. She loved reading and playing cards and having family gatherings for every holiday.
