Obituary

Lorin Patrick Konzem, 65, of Milbank, SD died Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Avantara Nursing Home in Milbank, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2026 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho, SD. Visitation will begin at 9:30 with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Presho. Lorin was born July 6, 1961 to Charles and Patricia (Sweeney) Konzem in Pierre, SD. He was raised in Presho, SD and graduated from Lyman High School. He attended Mitchell Vo-Tech to become a welder. He enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard and the Kansas National Guard as a Motor Transport Operator and a Bridge Crewman. Lorin received the Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon. He served 7 ½ years and received his Honorable Discharge.Lorin worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed traveling across the United States, fast cars, rock concerts and truck driving. He was well known for his generosity, sense of humor and mischievousness. He lived in Great Bend, Kansas, Grover Beach, CA, Presho, Vivian, Pierre, Rapid City, and Milbank, SD.Lorin faced many challenges during his life starting with a gunshot to the head at age 16. He was burned in a fire in his mid-20s and critically injured in a truck accident at age 36. As a result of this, he suffered a traumatic brain injury which he endured for the remainder of his life. Lorin is survived by his siblings; Kevin (Karen) Konzem of Camino, CA, Dan (LeAnn) Konzem of Sioux Falls, SD, Larry Konzem of Great Bend, KS, and Karen (John) Koenig of Chamberlain, SD, and nieces and nephews; Kasey Konzem, Marqui (Michael) Maresca, Kevin (Dana) Konzem, Sam Konzem, Mikkalyn (Stockton) Buchanan, Vince Koenig, Zachary (Jen) Koenig, Camille (Kaleb) Schneider and Mariah Koenig, along with many great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Patricia, grandparents and brother Brian “Koz” Konzem.
