Lorenzo Francis Obago was born on December 12, 1957 to Flavia (Thick Hair) Obago and Francis Obago in Chamberlain, SD. Lorenzo began his journey to the Spirit World on April 4, 2023 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain surrounded by his family.
Lorenzo attended school at Fort Thompson Elementary until the age of ten years at which time he was adopted into the Mormon Faith and was fostered by a family from Utah. He returned to Fort Thompson at the age of 15 years. A few years later, the light of his life, his first daughter Gwen Brother of All, was born in December of 1976.
Lorenzo then left the area to go live with his older half brother Madrid Roberts in Sisseton, SD in the mid 1980's and that is where he met his only wife April Jackson. They were united in marriage and to this union three children were born, Tasha, Lorenzo Jr., and Brett Obago. Lorenzo made his home and took care of his family in Waubay, SD for many years.
Lorenzo was a very athletic and active man. He was known for running and walking everywhere he needed to go. He was also a very good relative and best friend to all that knew him. He was adopted into the Burton Stepp family. He had a great love for rock n roll and he also loved listening to pow wow music. He also had a great respect and love for our Dakota traditional ways of life.
He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. His smile, his laughter and his hugs will be waiting for us when we all meet up again. We will love and miss you forever. Doksa Ake.
Lorenzo is survived by his children; Gwen Brother of All, Tasha Obago, Lorenzo Obago Jr., and Brett Obago; brothers; Lester Obago and David Obago and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
