Chamberlain, SD – Funeral services for Lois Bode, 93, of Chamberlain will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Chamberlain, SD with a private family burial in the Riverview Cemetery, Chamberlain. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Lois was born at the farm home in Brule Co. Pukwana, SD on January 1, 1930, to Henry and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Swanson) Thompson. Lois was baptized at Pukwana Free Lutheran Church July 11, 1930 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Chamberlain, SD on December 25, 1949.

She attended grades one through eight at Olson Country School north of Pukwana and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1948.

Lois married Walter F. Bode on June 1, 1949 at the Lutheran Parsonage by Rev. Ellis Nieting. They lived on the Paul Bode farm.

Lois passed away on December 1, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 93 years.

Lois is survived by her six children: Gloria (and Ken) Anderson of Chamberlain, Loren (and Julie) Bode of Pukwana, Lyle (and Brenda) Bode of Mt Vernon, Steven Bode of Plano, TX, Jeanette (and Bill) Gibbons of Brookings, and Carl (and Nancy) Bode of Plankinton. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine Mosemann of White Lake, as well as 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband (October 11, 1986); parents; brothers Avery, Milden, and Normand; sister Lucille Fick; sisters in law Glenda, Eleanor, and Doris; brothers in law Raymond Fick and Lewis Mosemann; and daughter in law Christine "Chris" (Comegys) Bode.
