Funeral services for Lillian E. Nedved, 92, of Kimball, SD will be 10:30 am Monday, August 5, 2019 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Kimball. Visitation will begin Monday one hour prior to the funeral with a rosary at 10:00 am at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Kimball. Burial will be Monday at 2:30 pm in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) at Dante, SD.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Lillian E. Melmer was born on September 4, 1926 on the farm at Wagner in Charles Mix County, the fourth child of five girls born to Louis and Mary (Jezek) Melmer. She attended rural school in Ree Township #3 through the eighth grade and one semester at Notre Dame Boarding School in Omaha, NE.
On February 3, 1948, Lillian was united in marriage to Thomas L. Nedved, Jr. at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Dante, SD. To this union, four children were born. They farmed south of Wagner on the Melmer homestead for 12 years before moving to Chamberlain, SD in 1961. Lillian waitressed for 37 years at the Rainbow Cafe' in Chamberlain.
Because of health issues, Lillian moved to Prairie View Assisted Living in Kimball where she resided for ten years.
Lillian was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Altar Society, St. Margaret's Catholic Church and Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and of the Senior Citizens Center in Chamberlain. She loved to crochet, read and work on puzzles. She also loved to watch old movies and go for a walk whenever possible.
Lillian passed away peacefully on July 30, 2019 at the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. Gratefully sharing her life are her daughter Marilyn Leiferman of Kimball, SD; son Ronald Nedved (Barb Claus) of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters Helen Stewart of Pierre, SD and Georgia Honomichl of Jefferson, SD; two daughters-in-law Carol Nedved and Ruth Nedved of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents Louis and Mary (Jezek) Melmer; her husband Thomas L. Nedved, Jr.; two sons Romaine Nedved and Gene Nedved; two grandchildren Michelle and James; a great grandchild Benjamin; and two sisters Sr. Mary Paula Melmer and Sr. Mariette Melmer.
