July 16, 1968 – June 18, 2025
Funeral services for Lesly L. Ross Gayton, 56, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the Crow Creek Tribal Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Conkicaska Presbyterian Cemetery in Fort Thompson, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Monday at the Crow Creek Tribal Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD.
Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Monday at 3:00 p.m.
Lesly (Doll/Daughter) Ross was born July 16, 1968, in Chamberlain, SD to Leslie (Corky) Ross and Ivadell Kirkie. Lesly attended elementary school in Ft. Thompson and Crow Creek High school, Stephan, SD where she graduated. Lesly later met Donald Big Eagle Sr and together they had 2 sons, Donald Gabriel Big Eagle Jr., and Benjamin James Big Eagle and one daughter Leona Mae Marquez.
Grandchildren: Kesha Big Eagle, Gabe Big Eagle, Olivia, Jamiah and many more grandchildren.
Lesly is survived by her sisters; Cameron "Sis" Ross, Ursula Ross, Bryant Ross all of Ft. Thompson and Dennis "Weets" Ross of Wagner, SD and her loving husband Larry Gayton of Ft. Thompson.
September 17, 2009, she married Larry Gayton, together made an incredible team. Whether is be helping family with yard work, caring for grand kids, fixing things around the house, or enjoying music together, their partnership was built on love, laughter, devotion for family. Their home was always filled with warmth, love and laughter.
Lesly's creative spirit shimmered through everything she touched, she restored antiques, added sparkle to the ordinary and shared her joy through art and music. Doll proudly played third base in her family's softball team founded by her mom, Ivy and her uncle, competing fiercely at the West River softball tournament in Presho, SD, she played a little basketball in her youth. Though her sons were incarcerated, her love for them never wavered, she leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion and grace.
Doll was preceded in death by her mom, Ivadell Head, step dad, Harry Head, her dad, Leslie "Corky" Ross, maternal grandparents, Leon and Laura Kirkie Sr.
