Obituary

Funeral services for Lawrence C. Wind, Jr., 70, of Mitchell, SD will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stephan, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.

Lawrence Clarence Wind Jr. was born March 12, 1951 to Lawrence Wind Sr. and Caroline (Black Tongue Wind) at Fort Thompson S.D.

Lawrence entered the Spirit World on January 11, 2022 at the age of 70.

He grew up in Fort Thompson and loved spending time with his grandma Susie (whom he shared a special and loving bond) He attended elementary school and graduated from High School in Stephan S.D.

Lawrence enlisted in the U.S. Army serving two years in Vietnam.

Lawrence loved and enjoyed music, His main passion was his guitar and he enjoyed playing the drums and guitar in a few bands. He worked various odd jobs. He was later united in marriage to Clarice Mae Track on December 7, 1990. To this union, two children Lawrence Miles Wind (James Normile) Sioux Falls S.D. and Susan Tonetta Wind (Susan Normile) along with five stepchildren Neva Hopkins (Harold Miller Jr.) Mitchell S.D, Anna Gourneau (Heath) Ft. Thompson, Crystal Flute (Kenneth Sr.) Ft. Thompson S.D, and Arnold Hopkins Sioux Falls S.D. whom he loved as if they were his own and devoted his life to. They moved many places such as Montana, Massachusetts, North Dakota, and Minnesota to name a few before returning home to Mitchell S.D.

He loved spending time and hearing about all the adventures of his kids, grandkids and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents and parents, brothers Wilfred Wind Sr. and Everett Wind, sisters Theresa Fleury (Wind) and Katrina Wind, daughter Susan Normile (Wind), stepson Vilas Hopkins Jr. and grandson Anthony Gourneau.

Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Clarice Wind, son James Normile (Wind), four step children Neva Hopkins, Anna Gourneau, Crystal Flute, and Arnold Hopkins, sisters Tammy Wind, Carol Wind, Bernadette Wind and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids and great grandchildren.
