Kyla Mercy (Kyla Jo) Red Bear, 25, a member of Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Fort Yates, N.D., entered the spirit world August 2023, at Brookings, S.D.
Kyla Mercy Red Bear was born on June1, 1998 in Chamberlain, S.D. to Jeanette (Jen) Red Bear. She attended Cheyenne River Headstart, Eagle Butte, S.D., Jefferson Elementary, Georgia Morse Middle School, Riggs High School, Pierre, S.D., Crow Creek High School, Stephan, S.D. Later received her GED in 2021.
Kyla spent her childhood years in Bad Nation, S.D., with her Voice family, swinging through trees, towers, riding horses, playing in the mud and swimming in Bad Nation Creek. Kyla loved her Grandma Arlene Voice with all heart.
Kyla passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 25, with so much life lived in such a short time. Her love for her two children always left an imprint of love and happiness, no matter what they knew they were loved, to see her light up whenever she talked about them. Kyla shared her compassion for her family and all people the same way. She loved new experiences, not much for being bored and inside she thrived on being in nature enjoying hiking, hammocking, just being without worry and living in the moment. Always learning and questioning conversations about every imaginable idea and dream, loving to laugh hard and joke around with anyone. Making plans for the future of traveling the world in a Volkswagon bus with her two children and her dog, living a lifestyle of adventure with the ones she loved the most. Kyla had so many people who loved her, because she always made sure everyone was happy and comfortable, putting herself second knowing the only way to truly give love is without an expectation of love and love selfless because it's never promised tomorrow and each day is a day to change for the better. Kyla will be sorely missed by anyone and whomever had the privilege to meet her. There is no one like her and she will be remembered forever....
Kyla is survived by her son Anthony White IV (6), her daughter Zendaya White (5), her mother Jeanette (Jen) Red Bear, her father Brandon LeBeau, brothers: Joseph Brings Plenty Jr. (Kalsey), Cole Brings Plenty, Creighton LeBeau. Sisters: Alexius LeBeau, Alana LeBeau, Reegan LeBeau. Nephews: Hunter and Hasyne. And all her Aunts, Uncles and cousins in Bad Nation, S.D., Thunder Butte, S.D. and numerous locations far and near. The Hall Family. Her Godparents: George Howe and Natalie Voice both from Bad Nation, S.D., and Her Hunka Family: the White's of Brookings, S.D. and Ostermeier's of Pipestone, MN
Proceeded in death by: Grandpa Bill Red Bear, Grandma Ilene Red Bear and Grandma Arlene Voice.
"Generosity brings happiness at every stage of its expression. We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous . We experience joy in the actual act of giving something. And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given."
"On the air they rise and fly an invisible course, gathering nothing, storing nothing... Joyous and clear like the lake, still as the stone at the door, (they are) free from life and death."
