Kimberly Belle Bearface was born December 16, 1963 to Anna Mae Metcalf and Orlando Big Eagle in Chamberlain, SD. It was later revealed to Kim that her biological father was Bernard "Jumbo" Drapeau which she embraced and was PROUD of. She attended school in Fort Thompson, St. Joseph's Indian School, and Crow Creek High School in Stephan, SD.
Kim met Earl Hawk and to this relationship her Chaske was born Garrett James "Mato". She would often say "Just me and my sonboy". Until she met the love of her life her "BABES" Chris Bearface. They were united in marriage on May 25, 2006 and to this union three bear cubs were born: Phillip Justice, Ramone Robert Theo, and Chloe Cecelia Wannita.
Kim held various positions throughout her life. She as a telephone operator for the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, cashier at Lynn's Dakotamart, restaurant hostess at the Lode Star Casino, and later working side by side as a cook with her cousins Corey Big Eagle and John Thompson Sr.
Kim's most loved and cherished title was being the Momma Bear to her cubs.
Kim was always the life of the party, her company was enjoyed by all. She could make anyone laugh with one of her many catch phrases…"Guess What? It's My Birthday!!" and it was usually not her birthday, but she would always rake in. other phrases are "Toe Sucker" and her famous LA… "I'm back!"
Kim lost her husband, her "BABES", in February 2021 to cancer. We all seen how hard it was for her to be without Chris. In November 2021, she lost her sister Enola Sazue. This has been a tough year for their household, not only to lose one person but to lose three family members.
