Kathleen June Cook was born in Chamberlain, SD to Cecelia (Like Him) Cook and George J. Cook. She attended school at Fort Thompson Elementary and Gann Valley High School graduating in 1969.  She then attended college at Lower Brule College, Huron College and finished her degree at Haskell Indian Nations University.

She lived her entire life on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation, first in the Crow Creek District and then moving to Fort Thompson.

On April 6, 1960, Katie was united in marriage to Lawrence Goodlow.  Kathleen worked for the Crow Creek Tribe and was employed with Diamond Willow ministries just before she fell ill.

Katie raised Preston Collins Sr. and Jasper Collins as her own.  She treasured and embraced every moment with them.  She especially loved her role as Grandma.  Katie was known for her vivacious personality and how she was able to make everyone she met laugh.  She never had a problem making friends wherever she went.

Katie loved spending time with her family and friends but most of all her grandchildren.  She loved going to rummage sales, gambling, going for drives and her Coca-Cola.  She loved when she was able to make the long distance travel to Montana during the summers to visit her grandchildren and family.

Kathleen passed away on August 22, 2022 at Chamberlain Care Center at 71 years with her family by her side.

Gratefully sharing in her life are her husband Lawrence, three nephews Jon (Paige) Collins and children Jasper, Adonis, Neveah, Uriah Collins and Davina, Preston Collins (Krystle) and children Prince, Thunder, Jairicho, Collins, Preston Jr and Renny C.F. and Wellman "Ollie" Collins and children Violet, Oliver, Tamia and Briyani Collins and niece Gina Gladman and husband Eric and son Kaleb, grandson Dante Stands Over Bull and great Granddaughter Stormie Rae.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Cecelia and George Cook; two brothers Richard and Robert Cook; three sisters Violet, Marjorie, and Loylee Cook Flute and a niece B.J. Heth and nephew L.W. Collins Jr.

Your life was a blessing. Your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Remember the happy times and raise a glass with cheer.
